Underground Blues - La Hora del Blues digs it...

Here's a cool cd review from a dj and online cd reviewer in Spain. I think he got a bit confused translating my bio since he ignored my last 12 years iin Austin and Lafayette and somehow thinks that Cleveland's music is from the deep South - but he tried! Thanks Vicente!

"Here comes a cd with the good work of a musician born in Cleveland, Ohio who discovered his love for blues in 1991, when he was a Dj at WRUW. Singer, song writer and guitar player Marty Christian finds inspiration in the sound of singer and guitarist Robert Lockwood Jr. and especially in many blues bands of Cleveland area which perform the most classic Chicago deep south blues. Christian will communicate you honest sincere feelings which are passionately given thanks to an emotional intimist heartrending playing in a very unaffected plain way. Marty really plays what he feels and how he feels it on straight simple sincere way. The cd includes ten original songs plus a version of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Bluebird”. Marty’s guitar and voice lead the whole cd, except when he gives place to Andy Cornett’s harmonica playing in two cuts. Hey Everybody! There's a ton of good stuff happening in October so I'm going to highlight a few but you might want to just camp out at all of 'em:

Tomorrow night, Fri Oct 2nd is the Downtown Alive show with Henry Gray and the Cats! Plus the new Marty Christian Trio consisting of Andy Cornett, Frank Kincel and myself (yep) are opening the show at 6pm in Parc International in Lafayette, LA. You can hear a demo of some of the Trio tunes plus a bootleg from our first show on my websites below. Also tons of tunes from Henry Gray and the Cats' new CD are now up on his Facebook page! Jeff Hannusch called it "a superb release from a true legend" Hear it, buy it for yourself! Links are below.

Then, Friday Oct 23rd is my first appearance at a new venue in Winnsboro, TX, the Brewbaker's Restaurant and Pub located inside the Winnsboro Bakery. You won't want to miss this! $25 gets you dinner and a show - now that's a good deal for East Texas.

Ok, thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers for Joe's family. They had a beautiful service for him in Cecilia, LA. We sent him off with many friends and family members in attendance and some beautiful songs sung by two of his granddaughters.
